I’m a long time Pokémon fan. When Pokémon was first introduced in America I was six years old and was instantly hooked. I remember many Christmases and Birthdays where I opened Pokémon cards and got Pokémon games. Pokémon Yellow was my first game.
As I got older, and Pokémon started to lose popularity on the playground, I was still was very much into the Pokémon games. I was semi-competitive from middle school until high school. I decided to quit with Pokémon Diamond being the last Pokémon game I bought.
With Pokémon being such a big part of my life for so long I didn’t want to completely let it go. That’s where I turned to collect Pokémon cards. While I used to collect Pokémon cards as a child I was not very serious about it. I mainly played the Pokémon Trading Card Game instead of focusing on collecting. I share the story that many in the hobby have of having a parent throw away my original collection from childhood, so I had to start completely from scratch.
Originally, I only wanted the first 151 Pokémon but over time my fascination with the hobby grew. As I started to accumulate knowledge of the hobby I became more involved. Today I’m still mostly focused on the original era of Pokémon cards. My collection, while generally private, houses some of the more exclusive cards in the hobby and is currently worth over a million dollars.
During the journey from where I rejoined the card collecting hobby till now, I was able to learn when a card was being sold was undervalued. This lead to me buying and reselling a bunch of Pokémon cards.
In 2012, I started my first eBay store to sell Pokémon Cards called PokemonPlace. At first, this was just a small part of my life and I didn’t think much would come of it. Over time, the hobby started to become more popular. I eventually realized I was making more money selling Pokémon cards part-time than I was working my full-time job. In 2015 I made the jump to being a full-time Pokémon card seller.
After many years, I now consider myself to be a great resource of knowledge of Pokémon cards, and while I don’t know everything I’m happy to share what I do know.
This website isn’t the first time I’ve shared my Pokémon knowledge, I am also a dedicated member of the elite forum, which is a forum with the highest concentration of knowledgeable Pokémon collectors. I have been a member since early 2012, and my profile is Cullers there. To this day you can see me regularly engage in discussions about the hobby.
I’m glad I got to share my story with you. I hope you enjoy it. I recommend bookmarking this website and spending some time learning from me, as I know a lot about this hobby and will try and give you my honest opinion and advice. I wish there was a resource like this when I first started out, it would have saved me a lot of time.
